Happy Blogiversary to Me!

One year ago today I started this blog! I cannot believe how fast the past year has flown by. I'm so glad that I am documenting all the special memories that we create. It all began here. I cannot wait to see what the next year holds!

Silly Goose

Seth has been so darn funny lately. Here are some of the latest:

Aunt Sandy told Seth, "I love you," and my mom told him to say I love you back. His reply was, "But I want to love you from the front."

What is in the center of a peach? "A Chia Pit"

Every time Seth sees deodorant he says, "Here is some Yoda." I see how he gets it - deYODArant.

I love Seth's strawberry blonde hair but the name of the shade perplexes him. He says. "I don't want strawberry. I want chocolate," or "Get the strawberries out." He has asked, "What flavor is your hair?"

For some reason one day. I was standing on one leg. Seth said, "Hey Mom, you look like a flamingo. (long pause) I have an uncle who is a flamingo." (He has an uncle named Domingo!)

Seth has been saying, "I wish you didn't work all of the time." (I work 15 hours a week. He's got it good!)

When I was getting him ready for his bath the other day, he said "There's my butt. I have been looking for it all day!"

50 4x8 Free Photo Christmas Cards

I just ordered 50 free photo Christmas cards! No strings attached. I saw the details on Fly to My Window and to my surprise it really worked. Click the link to get more info. The offer ends November 30th. What are you waiting for?

Cute Quotes!

To the dog: "Never, ever, ever take my spot."

To anyone when he hears something he doesn't like: "I'm gonna tame you!"

Randomly in the car:"Where are my cranberries? Daddy you are bad luck."

Seth has several, seveal nicknames. He has decieed to give us some too: "Mom I will call you big bookie bear and Dad I will call you big warm bear."

When helping Grandma make monkey bread: "Can I catch the monkey?" Just then a bird was squawking outside. :I hear that monkey!"

"I am going to tell you no.... after Christmas."

At the store: "I want to bump into that girl."

"I've got to get on that dang darn nice list."

After waking up very happy: "I was dreaming about ice cream."

Future Gold Medalist?

Yesterday, Seth went to a gymnastics class with our playgroup. He had so much fun playing on the equipment. Here are a few shots:

Learning Gratitude

This idea was inspired by something similar that I saw in a Publix magazine. I cut out a (very rudimentary) outline of a turkey.

Seth painted him brown.
We added facial features and hung him on the wall.
I cut out a bunch of feathers and put them on the counter in a basket with a marker.

Each night, right before supper we each add another feather with something we are thankful for.
I think this a fun way to remind us all to give thanks for all that we have. By Thanksgiving, our turkey will be decked out with plumage! I will post another picture of the final product later on!

Yesterday morning, I woke up to...

his sweet little sight. Mark had to be at work at 7 and he had already left when Seth woke up and told me that he had a surprise in the dining room for me. He led me to a vase of flowers, a gigantic alligator balloon and two cards on the table. He was beaming and was so proud to have a surprise for me! Later, Mark told me that Seth chose the alligator balloon and when he asked him what kind of flowers they should get, he insisted that there be a rose. I have to admit I was not looking forward to this birthday at all. This sweet surprise made getting older all worth it!

When I Grow Up.....

Seth has been obsessed with growing up lately. I just want him to stay small! Here are some of the things he has said lately about growing up:

"When I grow up....."

  • "I want to have all the babies. " - Some the names he plans for his future children include Tree, Sky, Sign, Truck, Rain, Puppet Show and, my favorite, Bush Baby.
  • "I want to do a needle." (sew)
  • "I will reach a shirt." (When I was hanging shirts in the closet.)
  • "I will be a husband."
  • "I want to be Mark."
  • "I will drink coffee. You and I will sit at the table and drink coffee and talk."
  • "I want to get married"
  • "I will marry you."
  • "I will grow a baby in my belly."
  • "I will be your Daddy and you will be a little girl."
  • "I will take medicine."
  • "I will drive a dump truck."
  • "I will not sleep."
  • "I will walk with Miles and go to his friend's house."
These are just a few. He talks about growing up all the time!

Busy, Busy, Busy

This past week has been so hectic that I haven't had time to blog! Here are a few highlights.

We have been learning like crazy. Seth loves doing anything with letters. He can recognize all of the capital letters and over half of the lowercase. He is quickly learning what sound each letter makes.
He is also learning the difference from vowels and consonants.
This is his new favorite phrase and I cringe each time I hear him say it. I guess it could be worse but it doesn't sound very sweet! I have no one to blame but myself, I just realized I say "Dang It" all the time. We are working on removing it from both of our vocabularies! We also have lots of silly, fun time.
We found a great new place to play called Leaping Lizards. They have tons of creative play toys, Seth enjoyed doing a puppet show,

riding a horse,

doing puzzles,

bouncing & sliding,

playing with toys, cooking,

loading & unloading & loading & unloading the grocery cart,
being a pirate,

dressing like an astronaut and much more! We cannot wait to go back!

We made a fun Thanksgiving craft.

Our special visitor, Uncle Leon, went home.

Seth tried to wait up for Grandma and Papa, but he didn't make it.

We made edible flower pot art with our playgroup. Our contribution was the dirt (crumbled Oreos).

They were fun and delicious.

We played at the park.

And built an "animal shelter" on our living room.

We also celebrated an impending (groan) birthday at Mimi's. Stacy made delicious chicken parmesan and chocolate ganache cake.
We aren't the only ones who are busy. Trey is about to be on the move!

Now, I'm tired! Goodnight!
