Yum!

Every once in a while Mark and I will make something a little different for dinner. We made this risotto and it turned out great. Even Seth enjoyed the "cheesy rice".

Pajamarama

The other evening we went to Pajamarama at the library. At first it seemed odd leaving the house that late in the evening, (I guess 7 PM is late to me now! Ha, ha, ha!) but it was so much fun. They had puppet shows, finger plays, singing and bedtime stories including one of out favorites - Lama, Lama Red Pajama! It was a nice way to end the day!

Phew!

I finally got the ol' blog caught up! I had been missing my camera battery charger for about two weeks now and couldn't find it anywhere. Mark finally found it in a bag of Seth's toys!

Belated Valentine

We had ordered Seth this Playmobil circus horse set for Valentine's Day but in didn't arrive today. We had thought that we would give it to him at Easter but we couldn't wait. We decided to give it to him to commemorate his first horse ride!

Yee Haw!

Today we went to Hendrix Farms with our play group. We thought we were going for pony rides, but when we got there there was a horse to ride too! Before we went, Seth said he was a "a little bit scared of that partner" that was going to be there. It took a second but then it clicked. (Howdy Partner.) I assured him that there were no cowboys, only the play group, and he was good to go. First Seth rode on a cute little pony named Queenie. He hopped right up like he had done this before. A little bit later he decided he wanted to ride the big horse too - a Tennessee Walking Horse named Poky. I thought Seth would be scared but I was more nervous than he was. He rode around like a champ! He also learned that the white horse in the pasture was named Ghost and he was quite taken with her. He couldn't stop talking about Ghost all day! The weather was perfect. It's hard to believe that last week at this time there was eight inches if snow on the ground. This was an awesome play date!

Ho,Ho, Ho?

Stacy had asked Seth what he wanted for Valentine's Day. His answer? "My own pillow with Santa on it for on my bed." Too bad we didn't know this a month ago. We could have got one on clearance for about a quarter! Where can you find a Santa pillow in February? Nowhere! So, she made him one and he loves it! He has been sleeping on it every night and thinks it is "so soft and deep." Thanks Aunt Stacy!

Ebay Item of the Week

Jagermeister Bustier and Jacket
Paid - $1.10
Sold For - $38.50

There was a bidding war between "wickedwanda" and "kuzimworthit" but kuzimworth it, with her 38DD chest and size 3 waist, won out just in time for her Mexican cruise! (Yes, she divulged all of this in a message asking if we thought it would fit her.) I have a feeling these articles of clothing are having a great vacation! Funny things happen when we branch away from the toys!

Hand Sewn Valentine's Beanbags

About a year ago I bought these Moda quilt squares with the delusion that I was going to learn to quilt. They have been staring at me making me feel guilty ever since. I decided to finally make something with them and they were the perfect size for beanbags. I have never sewn anything by hand - except maybe a button - but they turned out pretty good and Seth loved them!

More Snow!

When we woke up the next morning there was over eight inches of snow on the ground. It was so fluffy and beautiful! We wanted to sneak up on Aunt Satcy and get her with a snowball but she was too quick for us! She bundled up Trey and he and Seth had fun in the snow. We thought he'd be cold but he didn't seem to mind at all!

Bubba the Redneck Snowman

We had a blast building Bubba the Redneck Snowman - complete with coonskin cap!

Snow Cream

We made a batch of delicious snow cream and served it family style. Mark and Miles didn't want to eat it because "snow is dirty" As far as I'm concerned, It's better that what comes out of the tap! We used fresh, fluffy, clean snow and it was yummy. We packed up some and delivered it to Aunt Stacy too. The sugar was a bit grainy which actually made me think about dirt a little bit! Ha! I think next time we will steam the milk with the sugar and then cool it while we play/gather snow to avoid the graininess. Hopefully, next time will be next year.
Seth was double spooning it!

I heard this recipe on the local news.

Ingredients:
1 Gallon Fresh Clean Snow
2 Cups Milk
1 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp. Vanilla

Combine milk, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl. Pour over snow. Mix and enjoy!

911

After we had played for about an hour or so we got a phone call from Jason. He had an "emergency" - his cable was out and he needed Mark to fix it. I'm glad it was only a few blocks away because the roads were already getting snowy. When we got to Jason's we saw all the work that is being done on his house. He had the wall between the dining room and living room knocked down and it looks so much bigger. He is also getting granite counter tops, re-acing the cabinets and getting the hardwoods refinished. I lived in this house for five years and I'm not even going to recognize it when it's done.
We got to see Marshall too. We hadn't seen him since Seth's birthday! and he always cracks me up. He said, "I can't cook in this weather. I'm going to Wendy's."

Snow Books

With all of this snow, we have been loving our snow books including (but not limited to) :

Snow!

We were so excited to see snow finally! I knew that they were calling for snow but I thought it was going to be another false alarm. Seth and I were riding down the road when it started but I had to convince him that it was snowing at first. It was so light he could barely see it. "Isn't it magical?", I asked. His reply? "Not magical yet." We had to run into the store which was a madhouse! By the time we got out the snow was really coming down . Seth was so cute trying to catch snowflakes on his tongue! After Mark got home from work the snow had started to accumulate and we all headed out to play. Once Seth saw how much fun the snow was he really started to get excited about it. We had a blast running around the yard, shaking branched and throwing snow balls. I fed Seth a bite of snow and he said it was "delicious". Seth got his snow angels he has been asking for! In fact we ALL made snow angels.
