Pumpkin Book Project - Year 4

Vocab

Proud Mama

Seth made the honor roll again and scored two goals at soccer tonight! I'm so proud of everything he does, but I'm even more proud of the fact that teachers, staff, etc.. always tell me what a sweet and wonderful boy he is. (I already knew. ) I don't know how I got so lucky to be blessed with the gift of being the mommy to such a caring, funny, amazing little human being. Love that kid!

Field Trip

Mark and I had a great time chaperoning the class field trip to the state museum. We were in charge of four very excited little boys and I was glad that Mark had the day off to help me corral them!

Science Project

Seth had to make a model of either the Earth, moon or sun for science and he decided he wanted to make an Earth cake. (He and Mark have been watching The Next Great Baker.) I was skeptical but we more or less pulled it off. We baked the cake in pyrex bowls and put the two halves together. Then we frosted the entire cake with blue icing for the oceans and piped on green icing for the continents.

Career Day

For Career Day at school, Seth dressed up as a zookeeper - one of the many careers he would like to have one day.

Pumpkin Book Project

First Grader

Wow! The summer sure flew by. We can't believe our little man is headed into the first grade!

Career Day

Friday was career day at school and the kids were to dress like what they want to be when they grow up. Seth could be anything he wanted and he chose to be a "Rock n Roll Superstar." He's got the look down pat!

Awards Day

Last week, we got an email saying that Seth was going to receive an award at awards day. We were quite excited and couldn't wait to see what it was for. His name was the first one called for the Author's Pen Award for displaying exceptional skill in writing. (He gets that from me.) He also got the Good Citizenship Award foe community spirit and leadership. (Also from me.) ;) We couldn't be more proud of that kid!

Poetry Night

Mark and I enjoyed an evening of poetry courtesy of EPA 5K. Here are Seth's poems that he read:

A Bird A Bear
Which one has hair?

Colors

Birds are red.
Birds are blue.

Birds are violet.

And white.  I think.

Proud Panda of the Day

100th Day of School

Seth recently celebrated the 100th day of school. The students each had to bring in a collection of 100 of...anything. After much discussion and deliberation, he decided on stickers. I can't believe he's already been in Kindergarten foe 100 days already!

Report Card Day

Seth got his very first report card the other day and he is doing an excellent job! We surprised him with a Cad Bane Lego Star Wars Minfig that we had stashed away for Christmas. To the untrained eye, this just looks like a tiny piece of plastic, but for those in the know (ie boys ages 5-45), it is a highly coveted prize. I hope report card day is always this happy!

The Pumpkin Book Project

 For school, Seth had to turn a pumpkin into a book he had read. We had so much fun doing this project. We read the book The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear and painted the pumpkin to look like a strawberry. We turned an egg into a mouse and put a toy ladder on the side of the pumpkin. We also had fun looking at all of the other pumpkins at school. We are already planning our pumpkin for next year!
