Cultural Exchange: England

With the Olympics in London, it was the perfect time to do our England cultural exchange. We listened to the Beatles, read A Walk Through London, listened to Magic Treehouse: A Ghost Tale for Christmas, cooked fish n' chips, ate some tasty candy and learned lots of neat things about a family in England.

Topsail - Day 8

On our final morning, we woke up the kids early because a storm had washed up a bunch of beautiful seashells onto the beach. (Wink, wink!!) We did this last year too and this is one of my favorite things ever! It is the best feeling in the world to watch those kids running around on the beach in awe of the shells that they are gathering. That's what life is all about right there. That little window where magic still exists. The perfect ending to another great trip!

Topsail - Day 7

The last full day. Sigh. We spent the majority of the day on the beach. We had our annual sand sculpture competition. The Hannons made a battleship, the Palos Family made a mermaid and we took the prize with our mentos exploding volcano. We swam some in the ocean but the water was so rough and the undertow was the strongest I've ever felt. There were four tropical storms churning in the Atlantic. That night we went to dinner and had a nice evening at home.
