Bug Catcher

Seth LOVES bugs! Any time he sees a roly poly he cannot resist picking it up. Yesterday, he was holding this one and proclaiming his undying love for it. When I asked what he had named it he said, "Sheena." I asked him where he had heard that name and he said, "From inside my mouth."

Play Silks...Finally

I bought this silk from Dharma Trading way before Christmas and never got around to dying it. Seth and I did it together the yesterday and it was super easy. After reading about 10 different methods, this is how we dyed the fabric:

Mix 2 packets of Kool-Aid with 1 cup of white vinegar. ( I think next time I would do 4 packets for the yellow.) Add 2 cups very hot (almost boiling) water and stir in 1 yard of silk. It's amazing how you can literally see the silk drinking up the color.

Once most of the color has been soaked up from the mixture, rinse under cold water, one by one, ringing until it runs clear.

Hang to dry.

I didn't use gloves and dyed my hands orange too!

The silks turned out great and Seth has already been having fun playing all sorts of creative games and make believe with them. (I have too!)

Hello Gorgeous!

I can't wait to play with my new toy! I have been wanting one of these mixers for a while but didn't want to shell out $300 for it. When I saw a friend's post on facebook asking if anyone wanted to trade a food processor for her mixer, I jumped on it. I actually ordered her a processor and for abour a quarter of the cost I got this great machine that has only been used twice!

We had a great time at Mimi's the other night. From the picture you'd think it was Seth's party, but we were actually celebrating Mark & Carlee's birthdays!

All Dogs Go to Heaven II

S: I miss Leizle. Can you show me on this globe where Leizle, Princey and Jesus live?

M: It's not on the globe because the globe is a map of the earth. They aren't on earth. They live in heaven.

S: Can we go there and see them now?

M: No, it's so far up in the sky that we can't go there to visit.

S: Maybe we can build a big, big rocket ship that wil go way, way up, up, up and we can see them.

M: Maybe. A long, long time from now.

ALVIN!

Last weekend, we bought Seth the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie (and soundtrack!) and he loved it. He has taken to posing like Alvin does on the cover!

If at first you don't succeed....

We are going to try a garden again this year even though it was a bust last year! We saved some seeds from our pupmkin at Halloween and planted them in jiffy pods along with beans, peppers, squash, cucumbers and more. Hopefully we will have better success this year!

Paleontology 101

Seth had a great time pretending he was an archaeologist with this neat egg we got at Books-a-Million. It came with a little tool and he scraped, hit and dug until he revealed the little dinosaur hidden inside. Now that I see how it was made, I might try to recreate it on my own. Might.

Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Dip

Easy, Peasy! Mix 2 8oz packages of cream cheese, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla extract until fluffy. Stir in 3/4 package dark chocolate chips. The recipe called for graham crackers to dip with but we used Granny Smith apples instead. The sour with the sweet was yummy!

Egg Dying

Yesterday, we went to an egg dying party with our playgroup. Seth really liked it but it took him a minute to get it down. First, he plunked his egg into the bowl, whacked it with the spoon a few times and then sprinkled it with sand!

Parkin' It Up

The weather was perfect today and Stacy and I took the boys to the park to play. This was our third park this week! We dipped our feen in the cold stream water and it felt great to get a little taste of what is to come! Seth was loving it and said, "It feels good to be here with the fresh air." He and Trey had a great time!

Our playgroup had a fun St. Patrick'd day party at the park. Even though uit had gotten a bit chilly, we still had a good time. We made this fun suncatcher craft I found here.

Spring is so close and we were very excited to wear sandals when we went to the park with our playgroup!

Seth loves swinging on the big boy swing! He was laughing like a maniac and kept saying, "Fire monkey to the rescue."
