A Quiet 4th of July

Since we were out of town last weekend and will be again next weekend, we decided to just stay home for the 4th of July and relax. We just hung around the house all day. Marked grilled Knob Hill Chicken (topped with ham and provolone) and I made pasta salad and corn on the cob. My little sparkler looked so cute in his red, white and blue attire. We decided to head downtown to catch the fireworks after the Blowfish baseball game. The game started at seven, so we left home at about 9:15. We found the perfect spot and waited. And waited. And waited. Luckily, I had a stack of books that I just bought to read to Seth. ( He LOVED So Say the Little Monkeys!) He ended up falling asleep. Finally we started home at 11:15. As we passed by the field we heard the announcer say that it was about to start, so we pulled over in a less than perfect spot. We got out and I told Seth the fireworks were about to start. He woke right up and enjoyed them. Then fell right back to sleep on the way home. We later found out that the baseball game lasted thirteen innings and that's why it started so late. This morning, the first thing Seth said to be was, "Those fireworks were so beautiful." That made it all worth it. Happy Birthday USA!
